Dear Matthew: The advice you gave a couple weeks ago to the guy in Seattle who wanted a nose job was so bad it smelled (pun intended).   My nose was just not shaped right by nature either and it hounded me all the way through school. When I turned 21, I got it fixed and my whole life fell into place after that.  So, you should keep your nose out of his business and let him nip/tuck whatever he wants to! – Billy in NY

Dear Billy: Interestingly, this was one of the columns that generated the most amount of reader reaction.  Their opinions are split like a deviated septum (pun intended) which means that they are not split evenly.  They are running 70/30 in my favor, but it’s not a popularity contest.  My concern is that NoseMeister (as he had called himself) considers all the factors before he makes his decision.  Any surgery carries risks.  I’m glad things worked out for you in the long run.  I’m sure it must have been miserable having a facial feature obviously misshapen. Have you ever thought of it this way?  You still had friends who liked like you and spent time with you anyway before the slicing and dicing.  They must have seen beyond the nose on your face to the young man underneath. Perhaps those are the kinds of friends you should seek out regardless of what you look like
