Attention Call Center Agents: This Page Needs You!

Every call center agent has a story or two to tell and we want to hear yours. This is the place to share all the things that go on in your current (or former) call center that you always wished you could tell the world about, but didn't know where to start.

Here are some types of true confessions/complaints that you might want to get off your chest:

  • Have you ever hung up on a customer just because you were having a bad day?


  • Did you figure out how to make the call center software system skip you at the end of the day so you don't get stuck on a phone call past your scheduled shift ending time?


  • Do the trainers in your call center actually have any experience taking calls there or were they just spouting theory in the training classes and everything was different when you started taking live calls out on the floor?


  • How many of your co-workers have pretended to be supervisors when irate callers demanded to speak to one?


  • Do you use the mute button on your phone so you can carry on a conversation with the person in the cubicle next to you instead of listening to the caller?


  • Have you ever pretended there was a bad connection so you could hang up and pass a problem caller on to someone else?


  • What is the craziest thing you have ever done while on the phone with an unsuspecting customer?


Maybe nothing like the above examples applies to you. Maybe you are Mr. or Ms. Sweet & Innocent and you are the call center manager's favorite pet employee. We still want to hear from you.   • Does the person who sits next to you give out the wrong information all day long?

  • Have you caught a co-worker leaving his or her desk and staying logged into the system thereby sending the callers to an empty line, but keeping up his or her daily call volumes?

  • Do your colleagues lie about supervisors being available in order to prevent customers from complaining about them?
